House Fire - 72 Stuffs Cove, Frederica, DE

On Tuesday February 3rd, Station 40 was dispatched for a working house fire at 72 Stuffs Cove. Engine 49-1 was first to arrive and reported heavy smoke showing and deployed one 1 3/4” handline to the kitchen. Tanker 40-6 arrived just behind them and deployed a second handline and assisted with fire suppression. Captain Phil Pennington Jr. assumed command and ordered a ladder to be set in case ventilation would be needed. Crews from Engine 40-3 and 55-4 completed primary and secondary searches with negative results. The fire was quickly extinguished and overhaul work was completed by crews from Stations 40, 49, and 55. Command placed it under control as crews did their overhaul and assisted the Fire Marshal. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
