Big Thursday Celebration - Town of Bowers Beach
Sunday, August 9, 2009
Today The Bowers Maritime Museum, The Town of Bowers, and The Bowers Fire Company and Ladies Auxiliary worked together to have a Big Thursday Celebration. The event kicked off with a parade at 11:30 am, it was announced over a portable sound system provided by Sound and Secure. Our Grand Marshall was our oldest and only living charter member, Ralph Blades. We had most of the apparatus from Station 40 as well as apparatus from Station 49, Frederica, Station 55, Magnolia, and Station 54, Little Creek. A special thanks to those companies for showing their support. We also had entries from the Nanticoke Indians, 9-12 Delaware Patriots, Levy Court Commissioners Eric Buckson, Jodi Sweeney, Alan Angel and Dick Ennis. We also had Candidate for Congress Scott Spencer with his rocket and Representative for the 33rd District Bob Walls. Other entries included: Saxton United Methodist Church, Thumper, Bowers Beach or Bust, and many of the cars that were entered in our 1st Annual Car Show. Thanks to all of our members who helped to make this day a great success!!
