Bowers Fire Co members tour oil tanker in lower anchorage - Delaware Bay Anchorage
Tuesday, June 22, 2010
On June 22, 2010 four members from the Bowers Fire Company toured the tanker M/T SKS Satilla in the lower Delaware Bay Anchorage. The members inspected and familiarized themselves with the onboard layout of fire supression systems and firefighting techniques aboard the tanker. The tanker is 899.8 feet long, 157.4 feet wide, with a 75.7 foot draught. The tanker was built in July 2006 in Bergen, Norway. The captain and crew were extremely friendly and answered all questions about the supression systems. The Bowers Fire Company would like to thank Chief Jester, from Station 89, for inviting us to this training.
