Bowers Fire Company responds to a Field Fire - 32 E. Poplar Street
Saturday, February 19, 2011

On Saturday, February 19, 2011, at 1400 hours, Station 40 was dispatched to a field fire located near 32 E. Poplar St for an outside fire that had been reported out of control. Command 40 (Asst. Chief Jerry Wales) arrived on scene and found a field and woods on fire being pushed along by the high winds. Brush 40 arrived immediately after Command 40 and was instructed to pull forestry line and stop the spreading fire. Tanker 40 was next on scene and was instructed to stage on the hard surface and provide the water supply. Rescue 40 arrived on scene next and was instructed into the second driveway. There they used the trash line. With the crews reacting quickly the fire was placed under control and units remained on scene to mop up the hot spots.
