On Wednesday, February 23, 2011, Station 40 was dispatched to an MVC with injuries on Bay Road. Station 49 also responded to the call and Asst. Chief Foraker had command until 40 units arrived on scene. Station 40 responded with A40 and Rescue 40. Upon A40's arrival, Deputy Chief Trowbridge assumed command until the arrival of Rescue 40 at which time command was passed to Chief Pennington. Rescue 49 along with A40 assisted with patient care of vehicle one which was a mini van. Rescue 40 and B49 proceeded north to provide patient care to vehicle two which was a cargo truck. Units were advised of possible entrapment in one of the vehicles. Upon further investigation it was determined that there was no entrapment in either vehicle. Rescue 40's crew assisted B49 with patient extrication. Units were on scene for 25 minutes. South bound lanes were shut down and traffic was diverted to North Skeeter Neck Road to ensure the safety of the emergency personnel working on the scene. Units responding were A40, Rescue 40, Rescue 49, Engine 49-2, B49, KM7, KM9, and TMC assisted with traffic control as well as Fire Police from Station 40 and 49. Lifenet was also responding but was not needed at scene as there were no life threatening injuries and both patients were transported by ambulance to the hospital.
