Motorcycle MVC - Bowers Beach Raod

On Saturday August 20th, Station 40 along with KM8B, KM9, KM5, and Trooper 2 were dispatched for motorcycle MVC on Bowers Beach Road. Deputy Chief Willie Trowbridge responded as command and upon his arrival, found a male subject laying on the road about 20 – 30 feet from his motorcycle. He was under the care of an EMT from station 49. Assistant Chief/EMT Jerry Wales arrived and he was ordered to assist with patient care. Rescue 40 responded and upon their arrival, they were assigned to securing the motorcycle and assist the ambulance when they arrived. A-40 arrived and with assistance of R-40s crew prepared the patient to be boarded and collared and prepare for loading the patient in the helicopter. Engine 40 arrived and was ordered to assist the fire police in shutting down traffic and diverting it from the scene. Km8B arrived and was given a report that the patient had a loss of consciousness and an open leg fracture and he advised command that aviation would be used. KM9 arrived and assisted KM8B in preparing the patient for flight. KM5 arrived and after a short discussion, advised command the patient would be taken by ground to KGH Command cancelled the helicopter as it was in sight and advised KM5 that the helicopter was in sight. He also advised KM5 of his displeasure with the decision. KM5 then advised that if the helicopter was here we would fly the patient. Command contacted Trooper 2 and advised them that they would now be used and gave them a landing area. Trooper 2 landed and the patient was loaded. Command placed the scene under control and the patient was flown to CER. Units at the scene: Command 40, Rescue 40, Engine 40, A-40, KM8B, KM9, KM5, Trooper 2, and DSP officers.
