Bowers Fire Company assists local fisherman - State Docks, Bowers Beach
Sunday, March 18, 2012
On 3/18/2012 at 12:21 hrs. Bowers Fire Company was alerted to assist one of our local fishermen with the sinking of his schooner. Apparently the vessel went down sometime Saturday night. First State Crane was called to lift the vessels deck above that water level while crews pumped the bilge of the vessel. The dewatering operation lasted about thirty minutes until the vessel could float on its own. During this operation Rescue 40 was notified of a second emergency in our district and handled the run. The United States Coast Guard, DNREC EPA , Delaware Fish and Wildlife officers, Bower Fire Company, First State Crane, Miller Environmental and many local fishermen worked together to bring this schooner back afloat. Thanks to all for a job well done.
