On July 25th at 2026 hrs. Station 40 was dispatched to a reported structure fire of a 3 story multi family dwelling on Church Street in the Town of Bowers. Upon arrival Deputy Chief Jeff Morris reported smoke showing and established Church Street command. First in Engine 40 with Captain Mike Noble assumed operations and sent a 2 man crew to search the 3 floors. All residents evacuated the structure without injuries. It was then confirmed that unattended cooking had charged the 3rd floor with thick smoke. Captain Noble initiated natural ventilation then positive pressure to clear the top floor. Units remained on scene for about 30 minutes. Working smoke detectors alerted the 3rd floor family and they escaped unharmed.
