It is with great sympathy that the Officers and members of the Clayton Fire Company No#1, inc. announce the passing of Lawrence H. "Capt. Larry DuHadaway Sr. Mr. DuHadaway passed away peacefully at Bayhealth Medical Center on Thursday March 21, 2013 at the age of 85. Mr. DuHadaway joined the Clayton Fire Company on September 13, 1994. Mr. DuHadaway was a Life Member of the Clayton Fire Company, Christiana Fire Company, and Honorary Life Member of the Citizens' Hose Company. Mr. DuHadaway was also a previous member of the Holloway Terrace Fire Company and Indian River Volunteer Fire Company. "Capt. Larry" retired as a member of the Delaware State Fire Police for Clayton Fire Company in 2011. Mr. DuHadaway served in the United States Navy as a Seabee from 1944 to 1948 then later served with the Wilmington Fire Department from 1952 to 1957.
Funeral Services for Mr. DuHadaway will be held 11 AM Saturday March 30, 2013 at the Clayton Fire Company located at 214 Railroad Avenue, Clayton, Delaware. Friends may call on Tuesday March 26, 2013 from 5 PM to 9:30 PM at the Clayton Fire Company William R "Ace" Carrow Memorial Hall. Any Department wishing to attend the services on Saturday for Mr. DuHadaway is asked to contact Deputy Chief Robert Davis of the Clayton Fire Company at 302-222-4678. In lieu of flowers, donations in the memory of Lawrence H. "Capt. Larry" DuHadaway may be sent to the Clayton Fire Company Building Fund at P.O. Box 1050 Clayton, Delaware 19938.
